Memorial Day weekend usually means heavy traffic and higher travel costs. Chickie’s & Pete’s is giving drivers a small break before shore travel begins. The restaurant partnered again with the South Jersey Transportation Authority. Drivers using the Eastbound Egg Harbor Toll Plaza Exit will travel free Friday.
The free toll window runs from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m.
A Timely Break for Drivers
The promotion arrives as many families continue watching travel spending closely. Gas prices have also increased heading into the busy summer travel season.
That makes even smaller travel savings feel important during holiday weekends.
100 Days of Summer Celebration
Friday’s event also launches Chickie’s & Pete’s annual 100 Days of Summer celebration. The public event features businesses and local vendors from across the region.
Festivities run from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Frank S. Farley Service Plaza.
Guests can also receive complimentary Crabfries from the food truck.
Activities and Attractions
Funny Farm Rescue Sanctuary will host a petting zoo for children. State police and rescue crews will display emergency response equipment. The HERO Campaign will also appear with two HERO Patrol Cars.
A classic car cruise lot will welcome automobile enthusiasts and collectors.
Additional organizations and merchants will participate throughout the event.
Summer of Shellfish Returns
The event also marks the return of the Summer of Shellfish menu.
Seasonal menu items will remain available throughout summer at participating locations.
For shore travelers, the event offers free tolls and complimentary Crabfries.
Memorial Day Weekend Partnership
Chickie’s & Pete’s is also partnering with The Patriot Fund this weekend. The organization supports veterans and families transitioning into civilian life. Resources include emotional support and financial assistance for participating families. Customers ordering the Patriot Punch cocktail will also support the organization.
A portion of proceeds will go directly toward The Patriot Fund.
