Indiana Survives Happy Valley, The Hoosiers’ Identity Is Clear

State College, PA – The Indiana Hoosiers improved to 10-0 overall and 7-0 in Big Ten play with a 27-24 victory over Penn State on Saturday. It wasn’t a showcase blowout like recent weeks. It was a win that was earned through composure, defense and a key closing drive when the game was on the line.

Indiana jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter and extended it to 17-7 by halftime. The Hoosiers added a field goal in the third quarter to push their lead to 20-7, but Penn State made things interesting.

The Nittany Lions outscored Indiana and took the lead 24-20 into final minutes of the fourth quarter. The Hoosiers’ defense held firm and forced Penn State to punt with just 1:51 on the clock. Then, when it mattered most, Indiana drove the field and finished with a seven yard Mendoza to Cooper TD in the back of the end zone to grab a three point victory and keep their perfect season alive.
