PFL 6 Regular Season Finale: Featherweights and Welterweights

The PFL brings their last regular season event for 2024 to the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. PFL 6 features matchups in the Featherweight and Welterweight divisions, with playoff spots on the line. For many fighters, it’s win-or-go-home as they hope to qualify for the playoffs in August.

Prediction

Striker versus grappler scenario. Loughnane will use his striking skills to keep the fight standing and look for a knockout. Gonzales will try to close the distance, use his wrestling skills, and control Loughnane on the ground. Loughnane comes in as a heavy favorite. There is no value there and Gonzales is not worth a play, either. The underdog has three losses in a row and needs a first-round stoppage to have any chance of advancing. This might lead to mistakes and mirror his first PFL match against Braga. The judges will go home early in the PFL 6 finale.

If Poclit can use his reach to keep the fight standing and avoid the takedowns, he might out-strike Storley and look for a submission if the fight goes to the ground. The similarities of these fighters make the match worth a play. Storley is big favorite. Luca has had a few cancellations on his schedule and should be ready to fight. He comes in at +240. Look for the underdog Poclit to get his arm raised in the PFL 6 co-main.

PFL POINTS SYSTEM

The PFL points system awards points based on the outcome of the match. A fight winner earns 3 points. In the event of a draw, both fighters receive 1 point each. Bonus points are given for finishing a fight early: 3 points for a first-round win, 2 points for a second-round win, and 1 point for a third-round win, provided the stoppage occurs before 4:59 of the third round. No bonus points are awarded for decision victories.

For instance, a fighter securing a win in the first round will receive a total of 6 points (3 for the win and 3 as a bonus). A decision win results in 3 total points. If a fighter misses weight, their opponent, assuming they make weight, is awarded 3 points for a walkover victory, irrespective of the actual bout outcome; if the non-offending fighter wins by stoppage, they receive all applicable bonus points.
