The UFC Vegas 70 card this Saturday in Las Vegas will feature the former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones taking on the former interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane for the undisputed heavyweight title. Included in that card is the co-main event with Valentina Shevchenko defending her UFC flyweight belt against Alexa Grasso.
On the main card this week is a match in the heavyweight division with Augusto Sakai taking on Don’Tale Mayes which is not something that will give any insight to the strength of the big boy division. Both fighters are coming off losses and Sakai has been knocked out in four straight fights. This may be the matchup he is looking to get back on track in the win column, but the only reason this should be on the main card is to see a heavyweight brawl ending in a knockout.
Main Event
The main event features a light heavyweight bout between sixth ranked Nikita Krylov and eighth ranked Ryan Spann. Both are coming off impressive wins with Krylov defeating Volkan Oezdemir on UFC 280 and Spann taking out Dominick Reyes in their last fights. Expect Krylov to take Spann to the ground and control the fight as he looks to take one step closer to that shot at the title.
The fight to look forward to is between middleweight contender Andre Muniz and Brendan Allen. One would expect much of this match to be fought from the ground with each fighter having elite grappling skills. Muniz is undefeated in the UFC and looks to keep it that way Saturday on his path to the title. This looks to be the fireworks with both fighters combining for 35 finishes.
Tatiana Suarez Returns
Other matches on the UFC Vegas 70 main card includes the return of undefeated flyweight Tatiana Suarez. She is coming off a four year layoff and she faces Montana De La Rosa. More matches include welterweights Mike Malott vs. Yohan Lainesse, and Lightweights Erick Gonzalez vs. Trevor Peek. Prelims to watch are flyweights Gabriella Fernandes vs. Jasmine Jasudavicius in the female division. Ode Osbourne vs. Charles Johnson in the male division, fills out the card nicely.
