The Premier League title race is coming down to the wire, with Arsenal and Manchester City locked in a classic two-team fight at the top of the table.
Arsenal remain in control with 79 points from 36 matches, while Manchester City are right behind on 77 points after their 3-0 win over Crystal Palace. Both clubs have two matches left. Every result now carries massive weight.
When Can Arsenal Win the Title?
The earliest Arsenal can be crowned Premier League champions is Tuesday, May 19.
For that to happen, Arsenal must beat Burnley on Monday night. Then, Manchester City would need to draw or lose against Bournemouth the next day.
If City beat Bournemouth, the title race will go to the final day no matter what Arsenal do against Burnley.
Arsenal Still Control Their Own Destiny
The equation is simple for Mikel Arteta’s side. If Arsenal win their final two matches, they will be champions.
Those matches come against Burnley and Crystal Palace. A perfect finish would end Arsenal’s 22-year wait for a Premier League title.
But one slip-up could open the door for Manchester City. Even a draw from Arsenal would give City the chance to move level or possibly go ahead.
Final Day Drama Still Possible
If both Arsenal and Manchester City win in Matchweek 37, the race will head to the final day on Sunday, May 24.
Arsenal would travel to Crystal Palace, while Manchester City would host Aston Villa. With only two points separating the sides, the final day could decide everything.
Arsenal have the lead, but City have the experience and momentum to keep this race alive until the very end.
