As the 2025 MLB season barrels past the All-Star break, the playoff picture is taking shape. Some teams have come out of the break firing on all cylinders, while others are stumbling toward the trade deadline. Here’s a look at who’s hot, who’s not, and what it means for the stretch run in both the American League and National League.
Who’s Hot
Toronto Blue Jays (63-43, .594, AL East Leaders)
The Blue Jays have been the class of the AL, extending their lead in the AL East to 5.5 games over the Yankees. Since the All-Star break, Toronto has gone 8-2.
Texas Rangers (56-50, .528, AL West)
The Rangers have been on fire since the break, riding a six-game winning streak and a 9-1 record in their last 10 games. They’ve gained in the standings to pull even with the Mariners at 4.0 games back of the Astros in the AL West.
New York Mets (62-44, .585, NL East Leaders)
The Mets have surged to the top of the NL East, riding a seven-game winning streak and a 7-3 record since the break. Their 62-43 record ties them with the Cubs for the NL’s best.
Cincinnati Reds (56-50, .528, NL Central)
The Reds have quietly climbed to 6.5 games back in the NL Central, posting a 7-3 record since the break.
Who’s Not
Detroit Tigers (61-46, .570, AL Central Leaders)
The Tigers held the AL’s best record at the All-Star break (59-38), but they’ve stumbled out of the gate, going 2-8.
Minnesota Twins (50-55, .476, AL Central)
The Twins have faded in the AL Central, dropping to 10.0 games behind Detroit with a 3-7 record in their last 10 games.
Atlanta Braves (44-60, .423, NL East)
The Braves have been a shocking letdown, falling to 17.0 games back in the NL East with a 2-8 record since the break.
St. Louis Cardinals (54-53, .505, NL Central)
The Cardinals have slipped to 9.0 games back in the NL Central, going 3-7 since the break.
San Francisco Giants (54-52, .509, NL West)
The Giants have not done well since the break, posting a 2-8 record and falling 7.0 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West.
